CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - While Colgate and Lafayette opened the Patriot League season on Tuesday, Dec. 22 in Easton with the Raiders coming out on top, 72-59, the remaining eight teams began the slate on Wednesday. Playing in the final games on the schedule in 2015, Holy Cross, Loyola Maryland, Bucknell, and Army West Point all captured wins and joined Colgate at the top of the standings.

Women's Basketball Quick Notes
* Holy Cross/Boston University - The Terriers were looking to end its 11-game losing drought as they opened League play in the battle of the Turnpike Trophy at home in Case Gym, but Holy Cross made the home team wait one game longer as the Crusaders claimed a 60-41 victory ... A pair of 8-0 runs in the first half gave Holy Cross a 13-point, 23-10, advantage and Boston U. was unable to reach any closer than 12 points the remainder of the way ... The Crusaders gained its largest lead of the game (50-26) 1:34 into the fourth quarter on a layup by junior Madelyn Ganser ... Holy Cross shot 34.4 percent from the field and held the Terriers to 30.0 percent ... The Crusaders held the statistical edge in assists (15-9), points off turnovers (14-12) and second-chance points (11-8) while the Terriers led in rebounds (42-38) and points in the paint (24-18) ... Sophomore Infiniti Thomas-Waheed scored a game high for the Crusaders as well as a career high of 20 points ... Thomas-Waheed also recorded six rebounds, three blocks and also had a career-high five steals ... For Boston U., Corrine Williams recorded a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
* Loyola Maryland/American - The Greyhounds welcomed the defending Patriot League champions to Reitz Arena, where they edged out the visiting Eagles 52-46 thanks in large part to senior Colleen Marshall, who knocked down the game-winning three-pointer with 1:32 to play ... She scored a game-high 17 points, while classmate Jeneh Perry pitched in 12 ... It was a tough battle from the get go, as the two teams traded points throughout the first half - which had three tied scores and nine lead changes ... Senior Steph Smith, who finished with a game-high eight rebounds, converted on a layup as time expired to give Loyola a 24-22 advantage at the break ... American came back and used an 11-4 run to lead by as many as five points, 33-28, but the Greyhounds chipped away at the score the begin the fourth quarter tied at 35-35 ... The Eagles took a 44-40 lead but Marshall scored nine of the next 11 points to put Loyola back in front, 49-46 with 49 seconds left in the game ... The Greyhounds tacked on a trio of free throws and earned their first win over American since joining the League in 2013.
* Bucknell/Navy - Getting back to their rebounding ways, the Bison finished with a 39-19 advantage over the Mids and earned a 51-41 win in Annapolis to open the League slate ... Freshman Kaitlyn Slagus also played a large role in Bucknell's success, as the rookie tallied a career-high 21 points, scoring 17 in the second half ... Junior Claire DeBoer also reach double-digit points, netting 13, and also contributed at team-best nine rebounds ... Sophomore Jacquie Klotz also hauled in nine boards ... Navy was led by sophomore Taylor Dunham and senior Ashanti Kennedy, who posted nine and eight points respectively ...The Mids forced the Bison to turn over the ball 28 times, to their 15, and also had the advantage in steals (11-3), as Justice Swett alone took four.
*Army West Point/Lehigh - The Black Knights won its seventh-straight game as they forced 24 turnovers and totaled 13 steals in the 63-39 victory over Lehigh at Christl Arena to open League play ... Right off the bat, Army caused Lehigh to turn over the ball three times in the opening 2:49, with two being steals by senior Kelsey Minato ... Both teams struggled to connect in the first quarter and began the second in single digits; Lehigh held a 9-8 lead ... The Black Knights outscored the Mountain Hawks 13-4 in the second to take a 21-13 lead into the break ... An explosive third quarter of 25 points by Army and then 17 points in the fourth, propelled the team to the 24-point victory over the visitors ... Sophomore Janae McNeal made her sixth start of the season for the Black Knights, and finished with a career-high 20 points ... Minato was right behind with 19 points of her own and added a season-high seven assists, as well as a career-best six steals and six rebounds ... Sophomore Quinci Mann led the Mountain Hawks with 13 points, while junior Lexi Martins chipped in 10.
All ten teams will be back in action after the New Year on Saturday, Jan. 2, with all five contests airing on the Patriot League Network.
